To help you step back and open up. Not by doing more – but by doing less.
It’s simple.
SIMPLICITY IS FOR MEWe live in an increasingly stressed, busy, sometimes overwhelming world.
Many people are feeling exhausted, stretched thin, like they don’t have enough time? The technology that is supposed to be making our life easier, seems to be making it harder, more unhealthy?
The reality is that this is not going to change. The world is not going to slow down, or become more certain, or less demanding. So now, more than any other time in history, it is up to every single one of us to better manage our wellbeing.
So what’s the easiest way for us to do that? In spite of our busy lives and gruesome work schedules?
The simple answer is: to find our purpose – our why. The old saying is:
“If we know our why, then we can endure any how.”
Because if we find our WHY, it immediately gives us greater resilience.
Resilience is not about having to be a superhero. Never feeling pain or struggling. Resilience is actually about how we bounce back from hard times. How we adapt to the crisis and adversity that will definitely happen to us at some point in our life.
The old saying is: “We can’t choose what happens to us in life. We can’t choose what we experience. But what we can choose is how we respond.”
So how do we best do that?
It’s about how we think. It’s about our perspective – and what our brains do when we are under intense pressure.
Human beings when stressed, when in pain, when overwhelmed, we close down. We protect ourselves. When we feel like we are under attack from all sides, we almost want to roll into a ball. Into a fetal position. Kind of hide under the covers.
The problem is, when we do close down, our perspective also shrinks, our life shrinks. We get stuck in the weeds and start sweating the small stuff. We can lose our vision, our effectiveness, we often even lose sight of our purpose.
Have you ever asked yourself the question: “Why am I doing this? I didn’t sign up for this!”
So what do we need to do differently when we are feeling stressed, overwhelmed or in pain? We need to “open up”.
At tough times, we need to do something very simple.
We need to:
Stop
Step back
See the big picture
Because when we do this, we begin to see with clarity, respond with
wisdom & understand why we are doing it!

"How I came to be working in the Wellbeing & Mental Health space is that back in 2003, I was living in London with my younger brother, who was playing professional rugby in the UK.
My brother’s best mate at the time was a young bloke called Nick Duncombe. Nick was 21 years of age and was probably the cheekiest little bloke that I have ever met. Nick had just debuted for England in Rugby, as the youngest debutant scrum-half in English rugby history.
My brother and Nick decided that they needed some sunshine and to escape a brutal London winter. So I drove them to the airport and they jumped on a plane to the Canary Islands.
Somehow on that flight, or when they landed, Nick got Meningococcal and died within hours in front of my little brother’s eyes.
I did the big brother thing and I flew over to Lanzarote and we brought Nick back. I supported my little brother the best I could during the funeral. But then, following the funeral, I crashed and burned.
I had never experienced anything like that.
I tried to drink my way through it. It was the worst thing that I could do. I was angry at the world.
I ended up in a bad way. I became depressed. And then suicidal.
My family flew in and said: “We are taking you home.”
When I got home to Australia, it took me six months to come through that experience and “for the sun to come back out.”
And when it did, I asked myself some big questions…
“What the hell was that?”
“Why didn’t I know about that?”
“Why do people find it so hard to reach out for support?”
“Why aren’t we screaming this stuff from the rooftops in workplaces, and sporting clubs, and in the community?”
“And surely, we can do better?”
And that is my mission.
"To give people the inspiration and education to be well – and stay well – even at the most difficult of times. Like right now!"
By helping people to find their purpose – their why. Because if we know our “why”, we can endure any “how”.
Because as a people – as a planet – we need to stop pulling the bodies out of the river. And we need to get upstream and connect with, and educate, and inspire people – well, well, well before they are lining up to jump off anything!
We need to give people the education & inspiration & simple tools and techniques so that they can live the very best lives that they can lead!
It’s simple.
